Hi Guys,
I have been waiting for this device to hit the Indian markets so long.
This is a small wifi modem, a self-powered dongle and a portable hotspot which can support wired
connections too. This device has a 1500mah battery in it for tethering the internet connection through
wifi to about 10 devices. It has a sim card slot in it which can support 3G sim card. An Ethernet port for
getting the internet connection from your wied ISPs and you can power up your wifi-only devices with
internet. A micro USB slot for using it as a dongle to your computers which it also uses for charging its
1500mah battery.
Battery Life:
I checked this device with a vodafone 3G sim card and used my tablet for about 9 hours.
My friends were also using it simultaneously for few minutes. Its really amazing to see that it can even
serve more hours if it is connected to only one wifi device. Despite the company claimed only 5 hours
of backup power.
Wifi Reachability:
When I got this delivered to my house, I wanted to immediately check if its woring properly.
So I activated gprs plan from my mobile and inserted the sim to it. When I powered on, it did not even
take 10 seconds to connect to my tablet. I kept this device to my neighbouring apartment and checked
its connectivity and found it to be perfectly connected to my device without any loss in the internet
connection. The distance with which I tried will be around 10-15 meters.
Indicators:
1. There is a sim card single indicator:
Red if the sim card is not inserted.
Orange if the signal is poor.
Green if the signal strength is good.
2. Wifi Indicator:
To check if any wifi devices are connected.
3. Sms indicator:
Indicates that this device can support sending or receiving SMS.
So you can activate any plans through sms without even removing it to place it in a mobile to do so.
4. Ethernet Indicator:
To see if the ethernet cable is connected to the device.
5. Battery Indicator:
Green if the battery is charged.
Green-Blinking if the device is charging its battery.
Red if the battery is out of charge.
The full specifications about this device can be found here.
I tried this in linux and found that it has an autorun.exe file.
If you are able to run this file using wine in linux, then you can successfully connect this device to
your system.
Recently I checked my 3G speed with this device using my vodafone 3g sim card. The result can be seen as follows;
